Profile visibilityLimited routine access to some account details does not make a tip anonymous.Profile visibility
Location permissionA device permission is separate from a place you describe in a tip.Location data
A delivered tipThe receiving agency may retain its own copy. Account deletion does not recall it.Agency records

A visibility choice is not anonymity

The limited-visibility setting affects some account details in routine agency access. It does not hide the content you submit, prevent identification from that content, or override applicable legal and safety disclosures.

Location starts with permission

The consumer policy describes uses of precise or approximate location when permission is granted, including background access if allowed. Profile visibility and location permission are separate choices.

Agency records have an independent life

The department you select receives the information you send. Its copy may be retained or lawfully shared under its own obligations. Deleting your Lucas account does not recall delivered records.

No sale or targeted advertising under the published policy

The consumer policy, effective September 14, 2026, states that Detailr does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. It also describes the service, agency, legal, and safety disclosures that may occur.

Read the actual policies

This overview explains selected points. The published Terms of Service and Privacy Policy contain the complete notices and conditions. Product features and agency participation may vary.

Privacy is a sequence of understandable decisions

Before sharing information, a resident should be able to distinguish account details, device permissions and the content of a particular contribution. Those are related, but they are not the same decision. A setting that changes routine profile visibility does not remove identifying information from an image or reverse a delivery already made to an agency.

Our trust pages explain these distinctions in ordinary language and link to the controlling consumer policies. They help you ask a more useful question than whether an app is simply private: what is collected, for which purpose, who receives it and what happens after it is sent?

Choose what you share

Lucas is built around people choosing relevant departments and deciding what information to contribute. A voluntary tip is a different collection event from an automated camera observation. That distinction is part of the product’s approach, but it is not a blanket promise that the app collects no location information or that information can never be disclosed.

Read the exact policy and the choices presented in the available feature. Consider what an attachment, address or description reveals. If you need clarification, ask before submitting sensitive information. A clear explanation is a practical part of trust; an absolute promise that ignores the actual data flow is not.

Three decisions to review separately

Start with the account. Read what information is associated with it and what the visibility setting changes. Then review device permissions, especially location. Finally, inspect the account, text and attachments in the particular tip you are about to send.

These decisions can affect one another, but they are not interchangeable. A limited profile view does not remove an address from a photo. Turning off a device permission does not remove a location you type into an account. Deleting an account does not recall a record already received by an agency.

The practical question is what happens to each piece of information. Our trust pages separate those questions so you can find the relevant explanation without relying on a broad privacy label.

Understand the recipient’s role

A tip is sent to the selected participating agency through the available reporting feature. That agency can handle its delivered copy under its own rules and legal obligations. Detailr’s consumer policy and an agency’s record practices therefore answer different questions.

Before sending sensitive information, identify the recipient and consider whether the reporting route is appropriate. If the agency offers a separate confidential or anonymous service, read that service’s exact promises and limits rather than assuming the same terms apply in Lucas.

For a question about your Lucas account, contact Detailr through the published policy. For a question about an agency-held record, the receiving agency may need to answer as well. Directing the question to the relevant organization helps avoid confusion about which copy or setting is involved.

Read privacy claims at the level of the actual action

A voluntary observation differs from automatically collecting a camera record, but that difference does not establish that an app collects no information. Lucas’s policy describes device information, permitted location use and disclosures associated with the service, including legal and safety circumstances.

The published policy states that personal information is not sold or used for targeted advertising as of its effective date. Read that statement with the rest of the policy, including the uses and disclosures it does permit. A short marketing summary cannot replace the full notice.

If something remains unclear, ask before sharing. You do not need to send a sensitive attachment to ask how the service handles attachments. The direct contact route gives you a way to resolve a product question without turning it into a tip.
