Trey Everett Hugan

Technical co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Detailr Corp, leading application development for Lucas and Sentinel alongside the company’s product direction.

Building the connection between two products

Trey Everett Hugan is the technical co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Detailr Corp. He works with founder and Chief Executive Officer Jacob Brink on the development of Lucas and Sentinel, connecting product requirements with the application work behind them.

The products serve different people in the same exchange. Lucas is the resident experience for department alerts and relevant tips. Sentinel is the department workspace for publishing and reviewing information. Their interfaces have distinct purposes, but their workflows need to fit together.

From requirements to a usable workflow

A proposed change on one side can affect the other. A department’s publication choices shape what a resident receives; a resident’s submission needs an understandable destination and a practical review process. Trey’s technical work is concerned with translating those relationships into an experience that can be examined in the application.

He collaborates with Jacob on priorities and the questions that arise during development. That includes clarifying intended behavior, considering the implications of a change across both products and working through practical trade-offs as requirements evolve.

Development grounded in the task

A useful demonstration follows a task from beginning to end: an agency prepares a public message, a resident reads the request and relevant information returns to the department’s workflow. The technical and product teams can then identify which steps the current build supports and what still needs attention.

That approach keeps the conversation anchored in the people who will use the products. A polished screen is valuable, but an agency also needs to understand its publication, review and operating responsibilities.

Working alongside the business

Trey’s technical leadership sits alongside Jacob’s product and business responsibilities. Together they discuss the purpose of features, the relationship between the applications and the questions raised as the company prepares for evaluation.

Their shared direction is a clearer exchange of time-sensitive information between residents and participating agencies. Product descriptions should follow what can be shown or documented in the current version, with future aims kept distinct from demonstrated capabilities.

The next stage

Lucas and Sentinel are developed through Detailr Corp. As the products advance, Trey works with the team on the application decisions needed to support the resident and department experiences.
