California / Official source notes
Cal OES directs readers to county emergency alerts through calalerts.org and Listos California's alert resources.
The Cal OES access and functional needs library includes county resource sheets with alert enrollment links, trusted local information and county-specific resources.
These links describe independent public services and preparedness information. Read the original page for current enrollment, local boundaries and instructions. They do not establish Lucas participation.
Cal OES directs readers toward county emergency-alert information through CalAlerts and related state resources. Start with the county serving the place you need to hear about, then read the provider’s registration instructions. A subscription can ask for contact methods or locations; a zone lookup is a different task.
If home and work are in different areas, check both sets of official directions. You may also need information for a family member’s address. Keep the source names clear so a local subscription, a county warning and an agency followed in Lucas are not mistaken for the same enrollment.
Review those arrangements when an address or telephone number changes. A saved link remains useful only if you return to the current instructions. During an incident, follow the responsible authority’s latest message rather than using an old screenshot as a source of current conditions.
The Cal OES Access and Functional Needs library includes county resource sheets with alert-enrollment links, trusted local information and county-specific resources. It offers another way to begin a local search when the general state homepage does not answer the immediate question.
Read the actual county material to understand what a particular link or service provides. A directory of resources is not itself a warning subscription, a dispatch service or a guarantee that every provider offers the same language and accessibility options. Check the service you intend to use and ask its operator when an important requirement is unclear.
For a product-accessibility question about this website, use Detailr’s contact route. For a question about an official warning provider’s registration or delivery options, begin with that provider. Identifying which service is involved helps the question reach an appropriate recipient.
The researched East Bay pages distinguish tasks that can look similar online. Danville’s reporting FAQ directs non-emergency reports through dispatch. San Ramon’s guidance addresses circumstances involving evidence such as surveillance video. Walnut Creek separates general contact from reporting and directs out-of-city incidents to the responsible agency.
Dublin’s online process has eligibility criteria and distinguishes a temporary submission number from an approved report number. Pleasanton places evacuation-zone information and AC Alert choices alongside its preparedness guidance. Livermore describes the scope of documentation-only online reporting and provides a separate route for matters needing callback or investigation.
These are examples of why the official local instruction matters. They are not six identical reporting services, and they do not establish that any of the departments participates in Lucas. Use the city pages below to follow the original sources and confirm the process for your task.
There are 276 qualifying place records in this state inventory. Los Angeles (3,869,089), San Diego (1,406,106), San Jose (989,814) are the largest included places. These are Census place estimates for 2025, not current counts of users, warnings or participating agencies.
200 included places have fewer than 100,000 residents; 76 have 100,000 or more. The smallest included record is Norco at 25,081. The table is alphabetical, so those population differences do not determine which place appears first.
Every row uses the same inclusion threshold of at least 25,000 residents. A smaller town, unincorporated area or omitted census-designated place can still have official services and warnings. A missing name here is a limit of this research inventory, not evidence that a community lacks a reporting or alert service. Read the Census population source.
For local updates, identify the city, county or other authority responsible for the place that matters to you. Follow its current warning-registration instructions where offered. A person’s home, workplace and family can connect them to different jurisdictions, and each provider can have its own enrollment process.
For a police report, begin with the agency’s official reporting information. A place name in a population table does not identify which self-service reports are eligible or which office should receive evidence. For a product question, use Detailr’s business contact instead of an emergency or police reporting route.
Researched local resources
Official state information
State emergency management resources provide preparedness guidance and links to current public information. Local warning subscriptions and reporting instructions should be checked with the responsible authority.
California emergency management resources ↗Listed in the USA.gov state emergency management directory. External resources are independent of Lucas and Sentinel. Reviewed October 26, 2026.
276 places · population reference year 2025
The inventory is a way to begin a local information search, not a substitute for the agency responsible for an address. Start with your city or county’s official website, identify its police service provider, and check its current warning subscriptions and reporting instructions. A municipal name does not always identify a separate police department.
Among the larger places in this inventory are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno. These names and estimates come from the Census source linked below. Population describes a place; it does not establish the number of app users, participating departments or people receiving alerts.
State emergency management resources are a useful starting point for preparedness and official information. A local police agency’s reporting page answers a different question: which incidents it accepts, which recipient is appropriate and whether a self-service route fits the circumstances. Check those eligibility instructions before sending personal information or evidence.
If you need information for several places, keep their sources distinguishable. Home, work and family may connect you to different authorities. Following a participating agency in Lucas is separate from subscribing to official warnings, and a directory entry does not confirm that a department publishes in Lucas or accepts Lucas tips.
The table uses a population threshold to keep a national research inventory manageable. It is not a complete list of neighborhoods, unincorporated communities or all census-designated places. A missing place may still have official services and warnings. Use the relevant city, county or state source to continue the search rather than treating absence here as evidence that a service is unavailable.
For a researched local page, follow the original official links and look for the latest instruction. For a department considering Sentinel, begin with a discussion of the actual workflow and operating responsibilities. Information-finding, product evaluation and emergency assistance are distinct tasks; this directory is for the first of those.
Cal OES describes an Alert and Warning Program that supports alerting authorities with guidance, training, coordination and planning. Its public resources also link to CalAlerts for local enrollment information. A community application should complement that official warning structure, not be described as the first way California agencies can notify the public.

Cal OES advises residents to enroll in alerts for both their residential and workplace counties. For someone who lives in Contra Costa County and works in Alameda County, that makes the local official resources on both sides relevant. Lucas following and agency participation are separate questions; neither replaces enrollment in established warnings.

The California place inventory helps readers find researched local information and official sources. It is not a complete list of communities, an emergency feed, or evidence that any listed police department uses Lucas. Each new local page should identify the actual service provider, alert enrollment resource and current reporting instructions before adding more product explanation.
Search a city or state. Participation must be confirmed with the agency.
The place table scrolls horizontally on narrow screens. Focus the table area to scroll with the keyboard.
